A clear investment mandate is a very important. When fund managers provide their offering documents to you, the document should spell out exactly what their strategy is. When you’re reading them, there should be a section in the offering documents that covers things like, “We’re going to make these kinds of investments in this geographic area, with these characteristics, at this loan to value, to these kinds of borrowers.”
